Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
